Huge game by Mitchell boosts Thorold over Fort Erie, 6-3

Joe Mitchell had one goal and two assists to lead the Thorold Blackhawks to a 6-3 victory over the Fort Erie Meteors.

Mitchell scored 17:33 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Thorold. Owen Sobchak assisted on the tally. Mitchell dished an assist on Kevin Lavoie's goal that made the score 5-0 Thorold at 1:19 into the third period. He added another helper on Sobchak's goal that made the score 6-3 Thorold at 19:02 into the third period.

Thorold struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for 13 opposing power plays.

Thorold additionally got points from Sobchak, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Thorold also got a goal from Matt Pizzo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Ryan Sarris, Kyle Tanev, Stephen Jablonski, Roger Sherwood, and Zach McQuade, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie was helped by Mac Passero, who registered one goal. Passero scored on the power play 10:58 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Thorold. The Meteors had gained a power play chance when RJ Sciarrone was whistled for roughing. Nicolas Giancola provided the assist. Fort Erie also got points from Nik Passero, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jesse Pereira, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Fort Erie came via Richard DeMarco, who had one and Bryce Biller, who had two.

Ian Shorthouse rejected 22 shots on goal for the Blackhawks. Thorold registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Matt Baker recorded 19 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
