Cambridge squeaks by Brantford, 5-3

The game between the Cambridge Winter Hawks and the Brantford 99ers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Cambridge emerged with a 5-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Hudson Michaelis's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Winter Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Cambridge was sparked by Michaelis, who had one goal. Michaelis scored 11:52 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Cambridge. Cameron Pentsa provided the assist.

The Winter Hawks kept Brantford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Andre Keire made 38 saves on 43 shots. Team could not crack the 99ers' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Cambridge also got points from Adam Dauda, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Tyler Peters, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Lucas Zitmanis as well. More assists for Cambridge came via Marcellis Subban and Alex Bottigoni, who contributed one a piece and Jordan Chard and Matt Pinder, who each chipped in two.

Brantford's offense rang up 35 shots on Cambridge's net.

The 99ers were helped by Nathan Bastian, who tallied one goal and one assist. Bastian scored 19 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Alex Deluce assisted on the tally. Brantford additionally got points from Guy Polillo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Leonard Dziemianko, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Brantford received assists from JJ Harland and Mitch Atkins, who contributed one a piece.

Jacob Keogh made 32 saves for the Winter Hawks on 35 shots. For Cambridge, Pinder was ejected from the game. Brantford incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
