St. Catharines blows out Buffalo, 7-0

The St. Catharines Falcons had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-0 win over the Buffalo Regals.

St. Catharines was paced by Ryan Stayner, who finished with one goal. Stayner scored 3:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Mark Rodgers assisted on the tally.

The Falcons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Buffalo to score on any of its four power plays. St. Catharines' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Regals. The Falcons average 2.6 goals allowed per game. St. Catharines forced Buffalo goalie Ian Sylves *AP to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. The Falcons outdid their season average for goals scored. St. Catharines averages 4.7 goals per game.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Ryan Doucette, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Rodgers, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brennan Feasey, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Catharines also had goals scored by Nigel Slade, who had one and Kyle Woodhouse, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Dilan Walker, who had two and Greg Jambrosich, Tyler Jackson, Aaron Taylor, Brandon Cercone, Brett Brooker, and Mitch Bursey, who each chipped in one.

Knick Dawe rejected 19 shots on goal for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sylves *AP recorded 36 saves for the Regals. Buffalo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
