Port Colborne beats Fort Erie 4-3 after comeback scareVale Center Fri, Nov 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Colborne Pirates survived a determined comeback attempt by the Fort Erie Meteors on the way to a 4-3 win. A goal by Mack Steele put Port Colborne up 4-2 in the second period, but Fort Erie pulled to within one on Mac Passero's tally 4:22 into the third period. The Pirates were sparked by Steele, who racked up one goal. Steele scored on the power play 9:17 into the second period to make the score Port Colborne. Port Colborne earned a power play opportunity when Richard DeMarco was put in the box for high sticking. Cody Mintz provided the assist. The Pirates excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Port Colborne additionally got points from Spencer Fox, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Charlie Izaguirre, who also registered one goal and one assist. Port Colborne also got a goal from DYLAN BURDICK as well. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Trevor Smith, who had two and Evan Capobianco, James Mewse-Detrich, and Cody Levasseur, who each chipped in one. Port Colborne was unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Meteors were helped by Jesse Pereira, who grabbed one goal. Pereira scored 45 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Nik Passero picked up the assist. Fort Erie also got points from Passero, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jack Webb also scored for Fort Erie. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Mike Boles, who had one and Nicolas Giancola, who had two. Marcus Hlywka made 38 saves for the Pirates on 41 shots. Port Colborne incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Fort Erie's Josh Rosettani stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Meteors incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
