Stratford blows out Brampton, 5-1

The Stratford Cullitons were firing on all cylinders against the Brampton Bombers, and when the final buzzer sounded Cullitons emerged with a 5-1 win.

Stratford was led by Jake Pleon, who finished with one goal. Pleon scored 11:44 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Stratford. Nick Nigro picked up the assist.

The Cullitons racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. Stratford surpassed its season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cullitons stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stratford's offense rang up 43 shots on the Bombers' net.

Stratford also got points from Devon Kropf, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Nathan Templeman, who had one and Trevor Sauder, who had two. In addition, Stratford received assists from Mitch Brooks, who had three and Carter Allen, Ryker Killins, and Drew Gross, who each chipped in one.

Brampton was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game the Bombers had been spending in the box.

Nick Caldwell made 24 saves for the Cullitons on 25 shots. Stratford registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Team's Pat McKelvie(APJ) and Pleon were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Scott Patton recorded 38 saves for Brampton. The Bombers registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. For Brampton, Phil Caputo and Greg Wilson were ejected from the contest.
