Kitchener survives Listowel comeback, wins 2-1Listowel Arena Fri, Nov 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Listowel Cyclones tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Kitchener Dutchmen held on for a 2-1 victory. A goal by Brett Clampitt put Kitchener up 2-0 in the third period, but Listowel pulled to within one on Mac Nichol's tally 14:32 into the third period. The Dutchmen's Marc Williams was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Williams will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.64. The Cyclones' power play was ineffective against Kitchener's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. John Divo also scored for Kitchener. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Mitchell Smith, who had one and Keli Grant, who had two. Listowel's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kitchener power plays. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Kenny Huether and Ted Nichol, who contributed one a piece. The Dutchmen incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tanner Topham recorded 26 saves for the Cyclones. Listowel incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
