Sarnia erases deficit to stun LaSalle, 5-4

The LaSalle Vipers could not hold down the Sarnia Legionnaires, and Legionnaires erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 5-4 win.

Sarnia never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Legionnaires trailed 3-0 after a short handed goal by LaSalle's Aaron Luchuk at 19:06 in the first period. Sarnia knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Riley Babkirk at 4:18 in the second period. The Legionnaires got the game winner at 7:18 in the second period on a goal by Babkirk.

Ryan Vendramin had two goals to lead Sarnia to victory. Vendramin found the back of the net 2:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 LaSalle and again while 11:53 into the second to make the score 5-3 Sarnia.

The Vipers were unable to stop the Legionnaires from sending pucks towards the net, and Sarnia eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Josh Kestner also scored for Sarnia. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Curtis Crombeen, Jay Clarke, Cody Trowell, Jordan Fogarty, Bradon Layman(apj), Brad Campbell, and Tyler Prong, who each chipped in one.

LaSalle made the Legionnaires' goalies to work in net, firing 41 shots and forcing 37 saves. Jake Danson made 27 stops and Braden Palocz made 10. The Vipers stifled Sarnia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. LaSalle's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Vipers are averaging 2.5 goals against for the season.

LaSalle was helped by Brendan McCann, who registered one goal. McCann scored 13:28 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Sarnia. Zack Percy assisted on the tally. LaSalle also got a goal from Daniel Beaudoin as well. More assists for LaSalle came via Nicolas Crescenzi, Austin Hall, Mark Manchurek, Blake Jones, Dylan Denomme, and Andrew Burns, who contributed one a piece.

The Legionnaires totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For Sarnia, Hayden Allen and cody slaght were ejected from the contest. Cameron Zanussi rejected 30 shots on goal for the Vipers. LaSalle totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Vipers, Nikko Sablone was ejected from the game.
