London beats St. Thomas 7-2 as Elie gets hat trick

A hat trick by Tristen Elie was the highlight in Nationals' 7-2 win against the St. Thomas Stars.

Elie notched his first tally 7:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:11 into the third and at 19:46 into the third.

The London Nationals pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 21 penalty minutes.

London excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 10 chances. The Nationals outdid their season average for goals scored. London has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

London additionally got points from Kyle L Robinson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jeff Bauer, who also racked up two goals and one assist. London also got a goal from Matt Wildman as well. Other players who recorded assists for London were Derek Todosichuk, who had three, Mark Gazdic, Ryan Tuffin, and Keaton Ratcliffe, who contributed one a piece, and Matt Doty and Austin Kemp, who each chipped in two.

St. Thomas was helped by Luc Knight, who had one goal. Knight scored 13:59 into the second period to make the score 3-1 London. Josh Coyle(APM) picked up the assist. Josh Slegers also scored for St. Thomas. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Chris Carreiro and Braden Hellems, who contributed one a piece.

Liam Herbst made 16 saves for the Nationals on 18 shots. London registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Team's Ryan Wells and Chris Maton were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Stars' Riley Brown stopped 21 shots out of the 28 that he faced. St. Thomas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
