Patton's goals lift Caledonia to 7-4 victory over St. Catharines

Connor Patton was all over the ice for the Caledonia Corvairs, as he tallied two goals in Caledonia's 7-4 win over the St. Catharines Falcons.

Patton scored at 19:32 into the first period to make the score 4-2 Caledonia and again while 1:29 into the second to make the score 5-2 Caledonia.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:05 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Corvairs made St. Catharines' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 42 shots and forcing 35 saves. Knick Dawe made 15 stops and Jonathon D Ilario made 20. Caledonia's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Corvairs average 1.8 goal allowed per game. Caledonia was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 10 chances with a man advantage.

Caledonia also got points from Jordan Peacock, who also had two goals and one assist and Brooker Muir, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Caledonia also got a goal from Cody Brown as well. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Justin Abraham, Connor Murphy, Mitch Brown, Cosimo Fontana, and Jeffrey Marlott, who contributed one a piece and Spencer Gourlay, Kyler Nixon, and Matt Quilty, who each chipped in two.

The Falcons forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. St. Catharines had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Falcons stifled the Corvairs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Catharines' offense rang up 41 shots on Caledonia's net.

The Falcons were helped by Brennan Feasey, who tallied one goal. Feasey scored 5:54 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Caledonia. Nigel Slade assisted on the tally. Ryan Stayner also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Yanni Rallis, Cam Blakely, Dilan Walker, Sam Berg, and Mark Rodgers, who contributed one a piece.

The Corvairs' Colin Furlong stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Caledonia ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Todd Ratchford was ejected from the game. St. Catharines registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Falcons, Berg and Rodgers were ejected from the contest.
