Luscombe nets hat trick, leads Ancaster to 6-2 win over WellandMorgan Firestone Sat, Nov 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Blake Luscombe netted a hat trick to lead the Ancaster Avalanche over the Welland Jr. Canadians, 6-2. Luscombe got on the scoresheet 16:43 into the second period. He then added goals at 15:07 into the third and at 16:59 into the third.Ancaster outdid its season average for goals scored. The Avalanche have scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Ancaster took advantage of Welland's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Ancaster also got points from Luke Zupan, who also had one goal and three assists and Ryan Lewis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cole Nagy also scored for Ancaster. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Zach Niemanen, who had three and Eric Eustace, Michael Pollice, and Max Balinson, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Canadians forced the Avalanche goalie Blake Richard to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Welland was helped by Brayden Stortz, who grabbed one goal. Stortz scored on the power play 3:45 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Welland. The Jr. Canadians had gained a power play chance when Nagy was whistled for high sticking. Gabe Ruggi provided the assist. Welland also got a goal from Jason Lacroix as well. More assists for Welland came via Adam Mataya, Connor Walters, and Patrick Desjardins, who contributed one a piece. Richard recorded 35 saves for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ancaster ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Harrison Domagala was ejected from the game. Liam Conway made 24 saves for Welland on 30 shots. The Jr. Canadians incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
