Cambridge falls to Stratford after surprising comeback

The Stratford Cullitons climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Cambridge Winter Hawks, 4-3.

Stratford let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Cullitons took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Mitch Brooks at 12:54 in the third period. Stratford went down 2-0 after Cambridge's Matt Pinder put the puck home at 5:04 in the first period. After evening things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Marcellis Subban at 14:51 in the third, the Cullitons got the game-winner from Dylan Wettlaufer at 15:46 in the third period.

Stratford was paced by Wettlaufer, who registered one goal and one assist.

The Winter Hawks were unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Stratford also got points from Drew Gross, who also had one goal and one assist. Stratford also got a goal from Josh Higgins as well. In addition, Stratford received assists from Trevor Sauder, who had three and Pat McKelvie(APJ), Nick Nigro, and Mitch Vandergunst, who contributed one a piece.

Cambridge's offense rang up 36 shots on the Cullitons' net.

Nick Caldwell recorded 33 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Winter Hawks' Roefs Michael stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Cambridge incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
