Strathroy's comeback falls short, London wins 5-4

The Strathroy Rockets almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the London Nationals managed to pull out a 5-4 win in the end.

London led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Nationals' Matt Fuller's scored on the power play at 7:00 in the second period to put London up 4-0.

The Nationals were paced by Chris Maton, who racked up one goal. Maton scored 19:29 into the second period to make the score 5-3 London. Ryan Wells assisted on the tally.

London kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tynan Lauziere made 34 saves on 39 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

London also got points from Fuller, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Derek Todosichuk, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Anthony Kotsvos also scored for London. In addition, London received assists from Scott Lombardi, who had one and Ryan Tuffin and Jeff Bauer, who contributed two a piece.

The Rockets forced the Nationals goalie Jacob Riley to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Strathroy was led by Wes Baker, who tallied one goal and one assist. Baker scored on the power play 10:26 into the second period to make the score 4-2 London. The Rockets had gained a power play chance when Fuller was whistled for cross checking. Chase Thornton provided the assist. Strathroy additionally got points from Tyler Duarte, who also registered one goal and one assist. Strathroy also got a goal from Shawn Grogan as well. More assists for Strathroy came via Cole Mayo, who had one and Jack Kilgour, who had two.

Jacob Riley made 32 saves for London on 36 shots. The Nationals totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For London, Matt Wildman was ejected from the game. Strathroy totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Rockets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Coleman was ejected from the game.
