The Elmira Sugar Kings beat the Brantford 99ers, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. A goal 15:16 into the the first period by Mitch Wright proved to be the game winner, and powered Elmira to the victory A high sticking penalty on Mitch Atkins had put the Sugar Kings on the power play. Brad Kobryn provided the assist.Elmira's penalty kill excelled, as the Sugar Kings gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays. Elmira was led by Brennon Pearce, who registered one goal and one assist. Pearce scored 3:44 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Elmira. Wright assisted on the tally. The Sugar Kings' offense rang up 41 shots on Brantford's net. Elmira's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Sugar Kings finished with 46 penalty minutes.
