The Elmira Sugar Kings beat the Brantford 99ers, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 15:16 into the the first period by Mitch Wright proved to be the game winner, and powered Elmira to the victory A high sticking penalty on Mitch Atkins had put the Sugar Kings on the power play. Brad Kobryn provided the assist.

Elmira's penalty kill excelled, as the Sugar Kings gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Elmira was led by Brennon Pearce, who registered one goal and one assist. Pearce scored 3:44 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Elmira. Wright assisted on the tally.

The Sugar Kings' offense rang up 41 shots on Brantford's net. Elmira's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Sugar Kings finished with 46 penalty minutes.

Elmira also got points from Wright, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Elmira also got a goal from Steven Jakiela as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Cash Seraphim, who had one and David Savery and Austin Fischer, who contributed two a piece.

The 99ers were helped by Leonard Dziemianko, who tallied one goal. Dziemianko scored 1:46 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Atkins picked up the assist. Kevin Fitzpatrick also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via David Storey, Nathan Bastian, and Scotty Penwarden, who each chipped in one.

Jonathan Reinhart recorded 21 saves for Elmira. The Sugar Kings registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Brantford's Marcus Del Conte stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The 99ers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
