McFadden nets hat trick, leads Guelph to 8-3 win over Listowel

Zach McFadden netted a hat trick to lead the Guelph Hurricanes over the Listowel Cyclones, 8-3.

McFadden's first goal came 4:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:54 into the first and at 16:32 into the second.

Listowel's power play was ineffective against Guelph's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Hurricanes made the Cyclones' goaltenders to work without much rest, launching 37 shots and forcing 29 saves. Tanner Topham made nine stops and Daniel Dekoning made 20. Guelph's goal total was higher than its season average. The Hurricanes have scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Guelph could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 70 minutes in penalties during the game.

Guelph additionally got points from Lawrence Pagnan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ryan Migliaccio, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jordan Hatzinger, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Chad Herron also scored for Guelph. More assists for Guelph came via Craig Martini, who had three, Matt Lippa, who had five, and Bradley Van Schubert, Corey Flemington (APM), Scott Villeneuve, and Brad Yowart, who each chipped in one.

Listowel was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The Cyclones had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Listowel's offense rang up 36 shots on the Hurricanes' net.

Bradley Van Schubert made 33 saves for Guelph on 36 shots. The Hurricanes registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For Guelph, Pagnan was ejected from the game. The Cyclones ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chad Lemire was ejected from the game.
