Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Guelph Hurricanes defeated the Listowel Cyclones in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

Listowel's power play was ineffective against Guelph's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Hurricanes stifled the Cyclones' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Listowel was unable to stop Guelph from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

The Cyclones forced Guelph goalie Bradley Van Schubert to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Listowel was helped by Chace Duckworth, who finished with one goal. Duckworth scored 7:48 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Ray McFalls assisted on the tally. Listowel also got a goal from Derek Elliot as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Mac Nichol, who had one.

Bradley Van Schubert made 42 saves for the Hurricanes on 44 shots. Guelph incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Daniel Dekoning recorded 42 saves for the Cyclones. Listowel incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
