Brampton's Jackman deadly on offense in 6-3 win against CambridgeVictoria Park Arena Fri, Nov 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brampton Bombers relied on the scoring touch of Reid Jackman, who netted two goals, to beat the Cambridge Winter Hawks, 6-3. Jackman's tallies came on the power play at 7:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 17:33 into the first to make the score 2-2.Brampton's penalty kill excelled, as the Bombers gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:56 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Brampton stifled Cambridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bombers' offense rang up 34 shots on the Winter Hawks' net. Brampton bested its season scoring average. The Bombers have scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Brampton also got a goal from Chris Maione as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Cameron Cruickshank, Josh Villaflor, Phil Caputo, Brandon Clelland, and Beau Goehrum, who contributed one a piece and Jason Smith and Brad Sheppard, who each chipped in two. The Cambridge penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Winter Hawks had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Cambridge was helped by Tyler Peters, who finished with one goal. Peters scored 48 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge. Adam Dauda picked up the assist. Cambridge also got points from Jake Moggy, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Maxime Lamontagne also scored for Cambridge. More assists for Cambridge came via Dylan Decker, who had one and Alex Bottigoni, who had two. Brampton took out Bryan Raymond after he had made 10 saves and installed Scott Patton in goal, where he finished with 16 saves and the win. The Bombers totaled 61 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. Team's Connor Andersen and Caputo were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Roefs Michael rejected 28 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hudson Michaelis was ejected from the game.
