Strathroy rolls over St. Marys, 9-3

The St. Marys Lincolns had trouble finding ways to stop the Strathroy Rockets, which beat Lincolns, 9-3.

Chase Thornton had two goals to lead Strathroy to victory. Thornton scored at 3:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy and again while 7:50 into the first to make the score 2-0 Strathroy.

The Rockets kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Ganter made 33 saves on 42 shots. Strathroy bested its season scoring average. The Rockets average 4.1 goals per game.

Strathroy additionally got points from Brett Dalton, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Kirk Dorman, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Dan Chapman, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Tyler Duarte also scored for Strathroy. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Matt Lebert, Tony Belony, Ryan Field, Nick Boyer, Jack Van Boekel, and Tyler Coleman, who contributed one a piece and Jordan DaSilva, Kurtis Sander, and Wes Baker, who each chipped in two.

The Lincolns stifled Strathroy's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Marys was helped by Cody Filson, who registered one goal and one assist. Filson scored 2:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Mike Siddall assisted on the tally. St. Marys also got points from Rai Diloreto, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Marys also got a goal from Garret James (APM) as well. More assists for St. Marys came via Nico Giannantonio and Mitch Read, who contributed one a piece.

Tynan Lauziere rejected 27 shots on goal for the Rockets. Strathroy incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Lincolns incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
