Leamington erases deficit to stun Chatham, 5-4

The Leamington Flyers climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Chatham Maroons, 5-4.

Leamington let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Flyers took a 3-2 advantage on a power play goal by Tony Spidalieri at 10:19 in the second period. Leamington found itself down 2-0 after Chatham's Kyle Brothers put the puck home at 18:59 in the first period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Jared Dennis at 16:38 in the second, the Flyers got the game-winner from Dylan Seguin at 4:24 in the third period.

Leamington kept the Maroons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Darien Ekblad made 31 saves on 36 shots.

Kyle Shaw also scored for Leamington. In addition, Leamington received assists from Nathan Opblinger, who had two and Cole Chevalier, David Dalby, Mitchell Amante, Chris Scott, and Daniel Robertson, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers were unable to stop Chatham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Maroons eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Chatham was led by Adam Arseneault, who had one goal and three assists. Arseneault scored 10:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chatham. Chatham additionally got points from Brothers, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Michael Verboom, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Chatham came via Steven Szekesy, who had one.

Austyn Roudebush rejected 43 shots on goal for Leamington. The Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Maroons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
