Grant's hat trick boosts Kitchener over Guelph, 8-0

The Guelph Hurricanes could not stop the Kitchener Dutchmen's Keli Grant, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-0 win.

Grant notched his first tally 14:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:49 into the third and at 12:31 into the third.

Matt Greenfield frustrated Guelph's offense all game, and stopped 36 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Greenfield will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 0.83.

Kitchener made the Hurricanes' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 49 shots and forcing 41 saves. Stormer Santana made 20 stops and Bradley Van Schubert made 21. The Dutchmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Guelph to score on any of its three power plays. Kitchener outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Dutchmen average 3.9 goals per contest.

Kitchener additionally got points from Brett Clampitt, who also had one goal and three assists and Jordan Delaurier, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Keegan Calder also scored for Kitchener. More assists for Kitchener came via Clayton Greer, who had two and Kyle Ellis, Philip Moser, Mitchell Smith, John Divo, Connor Cole(APM), Adam Kawelic(APM), and Chris Eckert, who contributed one a piece.

The Hurricanes' offense operated below they season average. Guelph puts an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game. The Hurricanes' offense rang up 36 shots on Kitchener's net.

The Dutchmen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Guelph incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
