Buffalo falls to Welland in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Jack Fitzgerald gave the Welland Jr. Canadians a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Buffalo Regals when he scored 1:07 into the extra period.

Fitzgerald was all over the ice for Welland, as he registered two goals in the win.

Buffalo was stymied by the Jr. Canadians netminder Chris Janzen, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. The solid play of Janzen will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.64.

Welland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Jr. Canadians forced the Regals goalie Ian Sylves *AP to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

More assists for Welland came via Connor Walters, Patrick Desjardins, Matthew Mateljan, and Brayden Stortz, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo was led by Kennedy Monaco, who scored the team's only goal. Monaco scored 1:18 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Matt Mahony provided the assist.

Welland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sylves *AP recorded 42 saves for the Regals. Buffalo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
