Strathroy rolls over St. Marys, 8-1West Middlesex Arena Sun, Oct 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Strathroy Rockets were firing on all cylinders against the St. Marys Lincolns, and when the final buzzer sounded Rockets emerged with an 8-1 win. Wes Baker had two goals to lead Strathroy to victory. Baker scored at 8:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Strathroy and again while on the power play 7:24 into the third to make the score 6-1 Strathroy. The Rockets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Marys to score on any of its seven power plays. Strathroy forced the Lincolns goalie Quentin Prokopetz to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. The Rockets surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Strathroy averages 3.8 goals per contest. The Rockets' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Strathroy finished with 26 penalty minutes. The defensemen of the Rockets were also effective in St. Marys' zone, and came away with two goals. Strathroy additionally got points from Shawn Grogan, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Brett Dalton, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Colin Hartwick, who also had one goal and one assist. Tyler Duarte also scored for Strathroy. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Jordan DaSilva, Matt Lebert, and Jack Van Boekel, who each chipped in one and Chase Thornton and Tyler Coleman, who contributed two a piece. The Lincolns' offense rang up 37 shots on Strathroy's net. St. Marys was led by Mike Siddall, who scored the team's only goal. Siddall scored 14:24 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Cody Filson provided the assist. The Rockets' Tynan Lauziere stopped 36 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Strathroy registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Quentin Prokopetz made 40 saves for the Lincolns on 48 shots. St. Marys incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
