Elmira vanquishes Brampton in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Dan Snyder Memorial    Sun, Oct 27, 2013

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Elmira Sugar Kings defeated the Brampton Bombers in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for four attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Elmira got a shootout goal from Adam Campagnolo.

The Sugar Kings overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Elmira trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by Brampton's Brad Sheppard at 9:07 in the third period. The Sugar Kings tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Zac Coulter at 15:03 in the third period.

The Bombers' power play was ineffective against Elmira's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Brampton was unable to stop the Sugar Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Elmira eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

The Sugar Kings were helped by Mitch Wright, who finished with one goal. Wright scored 9:19 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Brampton. Campagnolo provided the assist. Elmira also got a goal from Cass Frey as well. In addition, Elmira received assists from Craig Johnson, Adam Brubacher, Rob Kohli, Brennon Pearce, and Matt Harding, who each chipped in one.

The Bombers forced Elmira goalie Hayden Neuman to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Brampton was helped by Brett Bloor, who racked up one goal. Bloor scored 6:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Jason Smith also scored for Brampton. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Cameron Cruickshank, Phil Caputo, Reid Jackman, and Bryan Raymond, who contributed one a piece.

Neuman rejected 33 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Raymond recorded 42 saves for the Bombers. Brampton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
