Huge game by Killins boosts Stratford over Listowel, 12-2

Behind a great game by Ryker Killins, who had four goals and three assists, the Stratford Cullitons defeated the Listowel Cyclones, 12-2.

Killins' first goal came 15:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:01 into the second, at 9:06 into the third, and at 16:40 into the third.

Stratford pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Cullitons made Listowel's goalies to work without much rest, firing 54 shots and forcing 42 saves. Daniel Dekoning made 22 stops and Tanner Topham made 20. Stratford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Cullitons outdid their season average for goals scored. Stratford averages 3.3 goals per game. The Cullitons' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals.

Stratford additionally got points from Mitch Brooks, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Trevor Sauder, who also registered two goals and two assists, Tyson Baker, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Mitch Vandergunst, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Brett Heaman, who had one and Drew Gross, who had two. In addition, Stratford received assists from Maverick Petrie, who had one, Jordan Currie, who had three, Dylan Wettlaufer, who had four, and Jake Pleon and Nathan Templeman, who contributed two a piece.

The Cyclones' penalty kill unit could not stop Stratford's power play, which converted on eight of seven opportunities.

Listowel was helped by Kenny Huether, who tallied one goal. Huether scored 8:01 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Listowel. Dylan Sayles also scored for Listowel. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Derek Elliot and Ben Shelley, who contributed one a piece.

Michael Pesendorfer made 23 saves for the Cullitons on 25 shots. The Cyclones incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
