Brampton downs Cambridge in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Galt Arena Gardens Sat, Oct 26, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brampton Bombers pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks on a clutch goal by Mark Shoemaker. Although Brampton was up by as many as three goals in the second period, Cambridge kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Winter Hawks pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Devin Shell at 1:32 in the third period. The Bombers stifled Cambridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brampton's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. The Bombers were led by Reid Jackman, who tallied one goal and two assists. Jackman scored 2:11 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Brampton. Jason Smith assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Brampton included Brad Sheppard, who had one and Phil Caputo, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Greg Wilson, who had one and Francois Cote, who had two. The Winter Hawks forced Brampton goalie Scott Patton to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Cambridge was led by Lucas Zitmanis, who had one goal and two assists. Zitmanis scored 14:59 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Brampton. Hudson Michaelis provided the assist. Cambridge additionally got points from Shell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cambridge also got a goal from Matt Pinder as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Adam Dauda, who had one. The Bombers' Patton stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Brampton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Darren Huck recorded 21 saves for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
