Ancaster falls to Caledonia in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Haldimand Center Fri, Oct 25, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Kyler Nixon gave the Caledonia Corvairs a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Ancaster Avalanche when he scored 2:53 into the extra period. Caledonia overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Corvairs was down 2-0 after a goal by Ancaster's Jake Milligan at 5:24 in the first period. Caledonia tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Spencer Gourlay at 2:33 in the second period. The Corvairs' penalty kill excelled, as Caledonia gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Corvairs forced the Avalanche goalie Blake Richard to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Caledonia had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 12 chances. Connor Murphy also scored for Caledonia. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Cody Brown and Matt Quilty, who each chipped in one and Connor Patton and Mitch Brown, who contributed two a piece. Ancaster could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. Ancaster also got a goal from Luke Zupan as well. More assists for Ancaster came via David Eccles, Blake Luscombe, Cole Nagy, and Hayden Guitard, who each chipped in one. Colin Furlong made 22 saves for the Corvairs on 24 shots. Caledonia incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Richard rejected 40 shots on goal for the Avalanche.
