Vendramin nets hat trick, leads Sarnia to 5-3 win over St. Thomas

A hat trick by Ryan Vendramin was the highlight in Legionnaires' 5-3 win against the St. Thomas Stars.

Vendramin's first goal came 18:56 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:25 into the second and at 4:39 into the third.

The Sarnia Legionnaires excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Sarnia's offense rang up 37 shots on St. Thomas' net.

Sarnia also got points from Jay Clarke, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Lyle(apj) also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Cody Trowell, who had three and Curtis Crombeen and Thomas Moxley, who each chipped in one.

The Stars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Legionnaires to score on any of their three power plays. St. Thomas kept Sarnia's goalie busy throughout the game, and Braden Palocz made 38 saves on 41 shots.

The Stars were led by Luc Knight, who tallied one goal and one assist. Knight scored 1:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Thomas. Josh Coyle(APM) assisted on the tally. St. Thomas additionally got points from Brett Van Dusen, who also registered one goal and one assist. St. Thomas also got a goal from Alex Morgan as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were Spencer Hutchinson, Chris Carreiro, and Aiden Jamieson, who contributed one a piece.

The Legionnaires incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Riley Brown made 32 saves for St. Thomas on 36 shots. The Stars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
