Thorold downs Niagara Falls, 5-2

The Niagara Falls Canucks fell to the Thorold Blackhawks, 5-2.

Thorold kept Niagara Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Johnson made 30 saves on 35 shots.

The Blackhawks were helped by Tyler Kessler, who grabbed one goal. Kessler scored 7:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Brady Allen picked up the assist. Others who scored for Thorold included Joe Mitchell, who had two and Kyle Tanev and Nick Sacco, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Francesco Gigliotti and Zach McQuade, who each chipped in one and Kevin Lavoie, Owen Sobchak, and Kyle Sarris, who contributed two a piece.

The Canucks stifled Thorold's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blackhawks were unable to stop Niagara Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canucks eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Niagara Falls was helped by Garrett Gallardi, who racked up one goal and one assist. Gallardi scored on the power play 16:29 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Thorold. A head contact penalty on RJ Sciarrone had put the Canucks on the power play. Mitch McIntosh assisted on the tally. Niagara Falls also got a goal from Johnny Curran as well. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Marcus Michalski, who had two.

Thorold's Brendan Polasek stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Blackhawks totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Niagara Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
