Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Catharines Falcons defeated the Fort Erie Meteors in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Fort Erie got a shootout goal from Braden Kavaratzis. In addition to the clincher, St. Catharines got a shootout goal from Yanni Rallis.The Falcons' offense rang up 45 shots on the Meteors' net. St. Catharines was helped by Kyle Woodhouse, who finished with one goal and one assist. Woodhouse scored 10:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. Aaron Taylor picked up the assist. St. Catharines also got points from Broderick Kelly, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Ryan Doucette, who had one. Fort Erie stifled the Falcons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Meteors were helped by Carson Johnstone, who grabbed one goal. Johnstone scored on the power play 7:17 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Fort Erie earned a power play opportunity when Ryan Stayner was put in the box for cross checking. Sam Quaranta assisted on the tally. Richard DeMarco also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Nigel Slade, Nicolas Giancola, and Jesse Pereira, who contributed one a piece. Jonathon D Ilario rejected 25 shots on goal for St. Catharines. The Falcons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Baker recorded 42 saves for the Meteors. Fort Erie incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
