Stratford wins tough contest against Guelph, 3-2Allman Arena Fri, Oct 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Stratford Cullitons and the Guelph Hurricanes was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Stratford emerged with a 3-2 win. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyson Baker at 1:24 of the third period. The Cullitons' penalty kill excelled, as Stratford gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. The Cullitons were led by Baker, who had one goal. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:10 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Stratford stifled Guelph's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cullitons kept the Hurricanes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Stormer Santana made 29 saves on 32 shots. Stratford was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Stratford additionally got points from Pat McKelvie(APJ), who also tallied one goal and one assist and Dylan Wettlaufer, who also registered one goal and two assists. More assists for Stratford came via Jordan Currie, who had three. Guelph was helped by Jordan Hatzinger, who racked up one goal. Hatzinger scored 9:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. Craig Martini picked up the assist. Guelph also got a goal from Ian Chan as well. In addition, Guelph received assists from Lawrence Pagnan, Matt Lippa, and Zach McFadden, who contributed one a piece. The Cullitons' Nick Caldwell stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Stratford registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Cullitons, Trevor Sauder and Trevor MacDonald were ejected from the contest. The Hurricanes ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Guelph, Pagnan was ejected from the game.
