Brampton vanquishes Listowel in shootout, 4-3 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brampton Bombers defeated the Listowel Cyclones in a shootout 4-3 (3-2 SO).

The two teams needed 14 turns to complete the shootout. Listowel got shootout goals from Scott Pawson and Jonathan Langford. Brampton also got shootout goals from Reid Jackman and Francois Cote.

The Bombers saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Brampton made the score 3-0 on a goal by Brandon Clelland at 10:40 in the second period. The Cyclones evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Dylan Sayles at 18:06 in the third period.

Clelland had two goals to lead the Bombers to victory.

Brampton's offense rang up 37 shots on Listowel's net.

Brampton additionally got points from Chris Maione, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Brampton came via Phil Caputo, who had two and Jason Smith, Brandon Stapley, and Cote, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones kept the Bombers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Raymond made 39 saves on 42 shots.

Kevin Gergley also scored for Listowel. In addition, Listowel received assists from Pawson, who had two and Sam Harris, Mac Nichol, Ted Nichol, and Ben Shelley, who contributed one a piece.

Brampton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tanner Topham rejected 33 shots on goal for Listowel. The Cyclones incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Listowel ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Frandsen was ejected from the game.
