Stratford's comeback falls short, Brampton wins 6-4

The Brampton Bombers, who led by four goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Brampton and clinched a 6-4 victory.

The Bombers led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Brampton's Reid Jackman's scored at 13:26 in the second period to put the Bombers up 5-1.

Brampton was sparked by Eric DiCarlo, who registered one goal. DiCarlo scored 9:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brampton. Francois Cote assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, the Stratford Cullitons were paced by Ryker Killins, who grabbed two goals. Killins scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:21 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Brampton. A handling the puck penalty on Brandon Stapley had put Stratford on the power play. Trevor Sauder provided the assist. Killins' next tally on the power play made the score 6-4 Brampton with 10:32 left in the third period. Brett Heaman picked up the assist.

The Bombers forced Cullitons' netminders to work without much rest, taking 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Nick Caldwell made 14 stops and Michael Pesendorfer made 16. Brampton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Bombers average 2.9 goals per game. The defensemen of Brampton were also effective in the Cullitons' zone, and came away with two goals.

Brampton also got points from Jason Smith, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Jackman, who also had one goal and one assist. Connor Andersen also scored for Brampton. More assists for Brampton came via Mark Shoemaker, Cameron Cruickshank, Chris Maione, Owen Burry, and Brandon Clelland, who contributed one a piece.

Stratford forced the Bombers goalie Scott Patton to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Cullitons' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Stratford also got a goal from Jake Pleon as well. In addition, Stratford received assists from Carter Allen and Nick Nigro, who each chipped in one.

Scott Patton made 37 saves for Brampton on 41 shots. The Bombers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For Brampton, Matt Capicotto and Brad Sheppard were ejected from the contest. Stratford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
