St. Marys falls apart in second, loses to LaSalle, 6-0

The LaSalle Vipers scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the St. Marys Lincolns and clinch a 6-0 win.

LaSalle was boosted by Paolo Battisti, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. Battisti certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.59 entering the contest.

Aaron Luchuk had two goals to lead the Vipers to victory. Luchuk's tallies came at 10:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle and 16:26 into the third to make the score 6-0 LaSalle.

LaSalle's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Vipers allow 2.5 goals per game. LaSalle forced St. Marys goalie Nick Dampier to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

LaSalle also got points from Bryce Mayea, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Nathan Veres as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Nikko Sablone, who had two, Brett Langlois and Mark Manchurek, who contributed one a piece, and Blake Jones and Daniel Beaudoin, who each chipped in three.

The Lincolns' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six LaSalle power plays. St. Marys could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Lincolns put an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Vipers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dampier rejected 37 shots on goal for St. Marys. The Lincolns incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. St. Marys ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nico Giannantonio was ejected from the game.
