LaSalle wins tough contest against Chatham, 4-2Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Oct 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the LaSalle Vipers and the Chatham Maroons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end LaSalle emerged with a 4-2 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Dylan Denomme's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Denomme had two goals to lead the Vipers to victory. LaSalle's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Chatham power plays. LaSalle additionally got points from Devon Paliani, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brad Carroll also scored for LaSalle. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Nathan Veres, who had two and Billy Eansor, Brett Langlois, Nathan Savage, and Andrew Burns, who each chipped in one. Chatham was held below its usual level of production. The Maroons put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Chatham was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 36 penalty minutes. The Maroons were helped by Michael Verboom, who had one goal. Verboom scored 17:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Chatham. Trevor Richardson picked up the assist. Chatham also got a goal from Kyle Brothers as well. In addition, Chatham received assists from Oliver Blayne, Brayden Hopkins, and Eric Palazzolo, who contributed one a piece. The Vipers' Cameron Zanussi stopped 14 shots out of the 16 that he faced. LaSalle totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Vipers, Rio Anzolin was ejected from the game. Darien Ekblad made 22 saves for Chatham on 26 shots.
