Leamington boosted by Wheaton's play in net, beats Chatham 4-1

The Leamington Flyers relied on the sparkling performance of Trevor Wheaton in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Chatham Maroons.

Leamington was led by Mitchell Amante, who had one goal. Amante scored 10:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. Kyle Shaw assisted on the tally.

The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Chatham power plays. Leamington kept Chatham's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brendan Johnston made 33 saves on 37 shots.

Leamington also got a goal from Alex Seguin as well. More assists for Leamington came via J.P. Grineau, David Dalby, Kyle Quick, and Graham Kelsey, who each chipped in one.

The Maroons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Chatham was held below its usual level of production. The Maroons put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. Chatham forced the Flyers goalie Wheaton to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Maroons were led by Matthew Kenney, who scored the team's only goal. Kenney scored 3:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Chatham. Michael Levesque provided the assist.

Leamington's Wheaton stopped 35 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Chatham incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
