Kitchener pulls away in second, rolls over Brantford, 8-0

The Brantford 99ers allowed the Kitchener Dutchmen to net five goals during the second period and fell, 8-0.

Kitchener got the win behind a great game by Kegan Blasby, who had one goal and five assists. Blasby scored 3:14 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Kitchener. Kyle Ellis provided the assist.

The Dutchmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Kitchener's offense rang up 44 shots on Brantford's net. The Dutchmen surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Kitchener averages 3.9 goals per contest. The Dutchmen got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Kitchener also got points from Logan Schmidt, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Keli Grant, who also registered two goals and one assist. Kitchener also had goals scored by Keegan Calder, who had one and Ty Learn, who had two. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Clayton Greer, who had two and Philip Moser, Mitchell Smith, Alex Demrovsky, and John Divo, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Brantford averages 2.4 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on the 99ers, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Matt Greenfield rejected 23 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Team's Brett Clampitt and Demrovsky were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brantford's Andre Keire stopped 36 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The 99ers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
