Brampton rolls over Brantford, 5-1

The Brantford 99ers had trouble finding ways to stop the Brampton Bombers, which beat 99ers, 5-1.

Brantford was stymied by Brampton netminder Scott Patton, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Patton certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.24 entering the contest.

The 99ers' power play was ineffective against the Bombers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Brampton penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The Bombers surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. Brampton made Brantford's goaltenders to work without much rest, totaling 42 shots and forcing 37 saves. Marcus Del Conte made 31 stops and Andre Keire made six. The Bombers stifled the 99ers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brampton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Bombers average 2.3 goals per contest.

Brampton was helped by Greg Wilson, who tallied one goal. Wilson scored 10:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Brampton. Brandon Stapley provided the assist. Brampton additionally got points from Jason Smith, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Eric DiCarlo also scored for Brampton. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Chris Maione, Tyler Simmons, and Francois Cote, who contributed one a piece.
