Williams stymies Elmira, Kitchener wins 4-1

Marc Williams stood on his head and made 31 saves to lead the Kitchener Dutchmen to a 4-1 victory over the Elmira Sugar Kings.

Kitchener pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

The Dutchmen were paced by Keli Grant, who tallied one goal. Grant scored on the power play 9:15 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. Kitchener had gained a power play chance when David Savery was whistled for cross checking. Brett Clampitt provided the assist.

The Dutchmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Kitchener's offense rang up 38 shots on Elmira's net.

Logan Schmidt also scored for Kitchener. More assists for Kitchener came via Philip Moser, Keegan Calder, and Connor Cole(APM), who each chipped in one.

The Sugar Kings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Elmira puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Sugar Kings' offense rang up 32 shots on the Dutchmen's net. Elmira's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. The Sugar Kings average 1.9 goal allowed per game.

Elmira was led by Rob Kohli, who scored the team's only goal. Kohli scored 4:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira. Zac Coulter assisted on the tally.

Kitchener registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Dutchmen, Alex Demrovsky and Ty Learn were ejected from the contest. Hayden Neuman made 34 saves for the Sugar Kings on 37 shots. Elmira ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. Team's Jaden Goetz(APJ), Brett Parsons, and Brennon Pearce were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
