Kohli's goals lift Elmira to 3-0 victory over Guelph

Rob Kohli was all over the ice for the Elmira Sugar Kings, as he tallied two goals in Elmira's 3-0 win over the Guelph Hurricanes.

Kohli scored on the power play at 9:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira and again while 13:27 into the third to make the score 2-0 Elmira.

Jonathan Reinhart spearheaded the defensive effort for the Sugar Kings, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 31 saves for the shutout. Reinhart certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.02 entering the contest.

Elmira pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 53 penalty minutes.

The Sugar Kings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Guelph to score on any of its seven power plays. Elmira's offense rang up 33 shots on the Hurricanes' net.

Elmira also got a goal from Brennon Pearce as well. More assists for Elmira came via Brad Kobryn, Pat McKelvie(APJ), Cass Frey, Adam Campagnolo, Zac Coulter, and Austin Fischer, who each chipped in one.

Guelph racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The Hurricanes had been averaging 31.0 minutes in penalties per game. Guelph could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Hurricanes average 3.3 goals per game. Guelph's offense rang up 31 shots on the Sugar Kings' net.

Elmira registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Sugar Kings, Alex Mutton was ejected from the game. Bradley Van Schubert rejected 30 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Team's Lawrence Pagnan and Brad Yowart were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
