Waterloo survives Brampton comeback, wins 5-4Waterloo Rec Complex Sat, Sep 28, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brampton Bombers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Waterloo Siskins held on for a 5-4 victory. A goal by Christian Mroczkowski put Waterloo up 5-3 in the third period, but Brampton pulled to within one on Chris Maione's tally 15:52 into the third period. Mroczkowski had two goals and one assist to lead the Siskins. Mroczkowski scored the first of his two goals at 16:22 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Matthew Mah provided the assist. Mroczkowski's next tally made the score Waterloo with 13:41 left in the third period. Danny Hanlon picked up the assist. The Bombers were unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Waterloo struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Brampton to score two power play goals on three chances. Waterloo additionally got points from Joshua Defarias, who also registered one goal and one assist. Michael Mantenuto also scored for Waterloo. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Andrew Brubacher, who had two and Matt Sheick and Thomas Carey, who contributed one a piece. The Bombers forced the Siskins goalie Ryan Hergott to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Brampton was helped by Francois Cote, who grabbed one goal. Cote scored on the power play 11:04 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brampton. The Bombers had gotten the advantage when Waterloo's Eric Cimino was sent off for checking from behind. Brad Sheppard assisted on the tally. Brampton also got points from Maione, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Josh Villaflor, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Brampton also got a goal from Tyler Simmons as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Connor Andersen, who had two and Jason Smith, Brandon Stapley, and Brandon Clelland, who each chipped in one. The Siskins' Hergott stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Waterloo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Siskins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cimino was ejected from the game. Scott Patton recorded 39 saves for Brampton. The Bombers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
