Behind a great game by Brayden Hopkins, who had two goals and one assist, the Chatham Maroons defeated the St. Thomas Stars, 6-1. Hopkins' tallies came at 6:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chatham and 7:20 into the third to make the score 6-1 Chatham.Chatham stifled St. Thomas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Stars were unable to stop the Maroons from sending pucks towards the net, and Chatham eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Chatham also got points from Kyle Brothers, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Michael Verboom, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Eric Palazzolo, who also racked up two goals and one assist. In addition, Chatham received assists from Hayden Verbeek, who had two and Connor Annett, Trevor Richardson, and Nate Pietens, who contributed one a piece. St. Thomas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Stars were led by Josh Coyle(APM), who scored the team's only goal. Coyle(APM) scored 19:02 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Gus Ford picked up the assist. Brendan Johnston made 16 saves for the Maroons on 17 shots. Chatham incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Riley Brown recorded 44 saves for St. Thomas. The Stars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
