Kitchener outlasts Listowel, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Kitchener Dutchmen escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Listowel Cyclones.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brett Clampitt at 5:06 of the third period.

Kitchener was sparked by Clampitt, who had one goal.

The Dutchmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Listowel to score on any of its four power plays.

Kitchener also got points from Jordan Delaurier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Philip Moser as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Mitchell Smith, Keegan Calder, and Clayton Greer, who each chipped in one and Logan Schmidt and Ty Learn, who contributed two a piece.

The Cyclones' offense rang up 33 shots on Kitchener's net.

Listowel was helped by Ted Nichol, who finished with one goal and one assist. Nichol scored 15:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Listowel. Kenny Huether picked up the assist. Listowel additionally got points from Huether, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Listowel received assists from Derek Elliot, who had two.

The Dutchmen's Matt Greenfield stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Kitchener incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tanner Topham rejected 26 shots on goal for the Cyclones. Listowel incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
