Van Schubert, Guelph blank Brampton, 5-0

The Guelph Hurricanes used a sparkling performance by Bradley Van Schubert to take down the Brampton Bombers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Guelph's 5-0 shutout victory.

Craig Martini had one goal and two assists to lead the Hurricanes. Martini scored 39 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. Sebastian Stangherlin picked up the assist.

Guelph's penalty kill excelled, as the Hurricanes gave up zero goals despite allowing 13 power plays.

Guelph stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bombers were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Guelph eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Hurricanes could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 58 minutes in penalties during the game.

Guelph additionally got points from Lawrence Pagnan, who also registered one goal and two assists and Ian Chan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Guelph also got a goal from Matt Lippa as well. In addition, Guelph received assists from Shawn Rooke, Zach McFadden, and Brad Yowart, who each chipped in one.

Brampton racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game the Bombers had been spending in the box.

Van Schubert recorded 30 saves for Guelph. The Hurricanes registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Scott Patton made 26 saves for Brampton on 31 shots. For the Bombers, Josh Villaflor and Phil Caputo were ejected from the contest.
