Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Fort Erie Meteors defeated the Port Colborne Pirates in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Port Colborne's shootout goal was scored by Brock Ackerman. Fort Erie's other shootout goal was scored by Braden Kavaratzis.The Meteors saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Fort Erie made the score 3-0 on a power play goal by Kavaratzis at 3:56 in the second period. The Pirates evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Trevor Smith at 14:29 in the third period. The Meteors' penalty kill excelled, as Fort Erie gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Meteors stifled Port Colborne's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fort Erie forced the Pirates goalie Mitchell Knight to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Meteors were helped by Aaron Wanat, who had one goal. Wanat scored 14:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fort Erie. Mac Passero assisted on the tally. Mitchell Pearce also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Jacob Toppazzini, Bryce Biller, Nicolas Giancola, Carson Johnstone, and Sam Quaranta, who contributed one a piece. Port Colborne's offense rang up 44 shots on Fort Erie's net. Port Colborne also got points from Ackerman, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Colborne also got a goal from Mack Steele as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Evan Capobianco, Jordan Bolibruck, Ryall Ledyard, and Charlie Izaguirre, who each chipped in one. Connor Visca recorded 41 saves for the Meteors. Fort Erie incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mitchell Knight made 30 saves for the Pirates on 33 shots. Port Colborne incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
