Rodgers leads St. Catharines over Thorold, 7-3

Behind a great game by Mark Rodgers, who had two goals and two assists, the St. Catharines Falcons defeated the Thorold Blackhawks, 7-3.

Rodgers found the back of the net on the power play 7:39 into the second period to make the score 4-1 St. Catharines and again while on the power play 13:15 into the second to make the score 6-1 St. Catharines.

Thorold fell victim to a deadly St. Catharines power play, which ripped the Blackhawks for four goals.

Thorold was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Falcons surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Catharines has scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

St. Catharines also got points from Tyler Jackson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Yanni Rallis, who also had one goal and two assists, and Aaron Taylor, who also finished with two goals and one assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Greg Jambrosich as well. More assists for St. Catharines came via Jimmy Sheehan, who had two and Ryan Stayner, Kyle Woodhouse, Brett Brooker, Mitch Bursey, Cam Blakely, and Dilan Walker, who contributed one a piece.

The Blackhawks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Thorold puts an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game.

The Blackhawks were helped by Joe Mitchell, who registered one goal and one assist. Mitchell scored 18:02 into the first period to make the score 3-1 St. Catharines. Owen Sobchak picked up the assist. Matt Pizzo also scored for Thorold. In addition, Thorold received assists from Chris Goulet and Kyle Tanev, who each chipped in one.

Jonathon D Ilario made 25 saves for the Falcons on 28 shots. St. Catharines incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Brendan Polasek recorded 27 saves for Thorold. The Blackhawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
