Stratford rips Brantford, 6-2Allman Arena Fri, Sep 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stratford Cullitons were firing on all cylinders against the Brantford 99ers, and when the final buzzer sounded Cullitons emerged with a 6-2 win. Stratford's offense was sparked by Ryker Killins, as he ended with four assists in a victory against Brantford. The 99ers fell victim to a deadly the Cullitons power play, which ripped Brantford for four goals. Stratford made 99ers' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 49 shots and forcing 43 saves. Andre Keire made 31 stops and Marcus Del Conte made 12. The defense for the Cullitons tightened up when they had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 12 the 99ers power plays. Stratford bested its season scoring average. This season, the Cullitons average 3.6 goals per contest. Stratford also got points from Devon Kropf, who also registered one goal and one assist and Mitch Brooks, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Trevor Sauder, who had two and Josh Miller and Mitch Vandergunst, who each put in one. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jeff McArdle, who had one and Jordan Currie, who had four. Brantford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. The 99ers were helped by Keegan Alvestad, who grabbed one goal. Alvestad scored on the power play 8:51 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Stratford. An interference penalty on McArdle had put Brantford on the power play. Guy Polillo provided the assist. JJ Harland also scored for Brantford. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were John Nay and Ryon Pereira, who contributed one a piece. Stratford's Michael Pesendorfer stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Cullitons incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Stratford, Jake Pleon was ejected from the game.
