The Listowel Cyclones fell behind early, and the Kitchener Dutchmen kept piling on the points on the way to a 7-3 victory. Keli Grant had two goals and one assist to lead Kitchener. Grant scored the first of his two goals at 4:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Mitchell Smith assisted on the tally. Grant's next tally made the score 6-2 Kitchener with 6:02 left in the third period. The Dutchmen earned a power play opportunity when Tanner Mighton was put in the box for hooking. Kyle Ellis picked up the assist. Kitchener kept Listowel's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tanner Topham made 31 saves on 38 shots. The Dutchmen surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Kitchener has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Team could not crack the Cyclones' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. Kitchener also got points from Philip Moser, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brett Clampitt, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Kitchener also had goals scored by John Divo, who had one and Adam Kawelic(APM), who had two. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Taite Wirschke (APM), Jacob Cascagnette, and Dylan Bursey, who each chipped in one and Jordan Delaurier and Connor Cole(APM), who contributed two a piece. The Listowel penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Cyclones surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. Listowel forced the Dutchmen goalie Marc Williams to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Cyclones were led by Scott Pawson, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Pawson scored 45 seconds into the third period to make the score 5-2 Kitchener. Kevin Gergley provided the assist. Mac Nichol also scored for Listowel. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Riley Robertson and Ted Nichol, who each chipped in one. Marc Williams made 34 saves for Kitchener on 37 shots. The Dutchmen ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Clayton Greer was ejected from the game. Listowel registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Cyclones, Sam Harris was ejected from the game. |
