Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Sarnia Legionnaires defeated the LaSalle Vipers in a shootout 7-6 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured 16 attempts between both teams.Sarnia saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Legionnaires made the score 6-4 on a goal by Nathan Mater at 9:20 in the third period. LaSalle evened things up at 6-6 on a goal by Austin Hall at 18:01 in the third period. Josh Kestner was all over the ice for Sarnia, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Kestner scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:43 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Sarnia. The Legionnaires had gained a power play chance when Brett Langlois was whistled for interference. Davis Boyer provided the assist. Kestner's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Sarnia with 11:21 left in the third period. Sarnia had taken the advantage when the Vipers' Langlois got sent off for cross checking. The Legionnaires' offense rang up 42 shots on LaSalle's net. Sarnia surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Legionnaires average 4.5 goals per game. Sarnia was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 11 chances. Sarnia also got points from Jay Clarke, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Hunter Tyczynski, who also registered one goal and one assist. Bobby King also scored for Sarnia. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Curtis Crombeen, Mitchell Minder, Riley Babkirk, and Tyler Prong, who each chipped in one.
