In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Thorold Blackhawks escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Fort Erie Meteors.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Matt Pizzo secured the win for Thorold with a goal in the second period.

The Blackhawks got the win on the strength of a great game by Owen Sobchak, who had one goal and two assists. Sobchak scored 2:20 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Thorold. Joe Mitchell assisted on the tally.

Thorold made Meteors' goaltenders to work without much rest, launching 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Josh Rosettani made 22 stops and Connor Visca made four.

Thorold additionally got points from Kevin Lavoie, who also had one goal and one assist, Drake Hart, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Roger Sherwood, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Chris Goulet also scored for Thorold. More assists for Thorold came via Zach McQuade, who had two and Kyle Tanev, who had three.

Fort Erie kept the Blackhawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Shorthouse made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Thorold incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Meteors incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
