LaSalle uses shootout to best Lambton Shores, 4-3 (3-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the LaSalle Vipers defeated the Lambton Shores Predators in a shootout 4-3 (3-1 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams. Lambton Shores' shootout goal was scored by Adam Arseneault. LaSalle's other shootout goals were scored by Devon Paliani and Aaron Luchuk.

The Vipers were sparked by Paliani, who finished with one goal. Paliani scored 7:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle. Nathan Savage picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, the Predators were led by John Warren, who registered two goals. Warren scored the first of his two goals at 13:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. Arseneault assisted on the tally. Warren's next tally made the score 2-2 with 1:47 left in the second period. Lambton Shores had gotten the advantage when LaSalle's Brett Langlois was sent off for cross checking. Arseneault picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:44 into the second period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with 10 game misconducts.

The Vipers were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and three majors for 37 minutes in penalty time. LaSalle had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Vipers' offense rang up 39 shots on the Predators' net.

LaSalle also got a goal from Luchuk as well. More assists for LaSalle came via Mark Manchurek and Daniel Beaudoin, who each chipped in one.

The Lambton Shores penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and three majors for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Predators surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. Lambton Shores kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cameron Zanussi made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Brendan Trottier also scored for Lambton Shores. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Jay Ritchie, Ryan Trottier, Ryan Fraser, and Steven Beenackers, who contributed one a piece.

The Vipers registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For LaSalle, Nicolas Crescenzi, Nathan Veres, and Beaudoin were ejected from the contest. Brett Avery recorded 35 saves for the Predators. Lambton Shores registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Team's Bryan Boersma and Ty Jackson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
