Huge game by Patton boosts Caledonia over Port Colborne, 7-3

The Caledonia Corvairs' Connor Patton had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-3 win over the Port Colborne Pirates.

Patton scored on the power play at 4:36 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Caledonia and again while 7:57 into the third to make the score 6-3 Caledonia.

Caledonia pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 40 penalty minutes.

The Corvairs forced Port Colborne's goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Mitchell Knight made 27 stops and Marcus Hlywka made seven.

Caledonia also got points from Spencer Gourlay, who also had one goal and two assists, Brooker Muir, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Matt Quilty, who also registered two goals and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Jeffrey Marlott as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Cosimo Fontana, who had one, Connor Murphy, who had three, and Steven Comegna and Kyler Nixon, who contributed two a piece.

The Pirates kept Caledonia's goalie busy throughout the game, and Colin Furlong made 34 saves on 37 shots. Port Colborne was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages.

The Pirates were led by Charlie Izaguirre, who racked up one goal and one assist. Izaguirre scored on the power play 17:26 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Colborne. Port Colborne had taken the advantage when the Corvairs' Scott Dorian got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Mack Steele provided the assist. Jordan Bolibruck also scored for Port Colborne. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Joe Dagostino, Evan Capobianco, and Trevor Smith, who each chipped in one.

Caledonia registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Pirates incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
